Celebrating Book Week 2016 at PNE!
Each year, schools and public libraries across Australia spend a week celebrating books and Australian authors and illustrators. Classroom teachers, teacher librarians and public librarians develop activities, offer competitions and tell stories relating to a theme to highlight the importance of reading.
In the Foundation area we celebrated by completing rotational activities based on the children short listed books: Mr Huff and The Cow that tripped over the moon. Children made little cows out of putty and painted them, and then made little clouds out of stockings and other materials.
DRESS UP DAY!
Children then came dressed as their favourite book character, paraded around at assembly and had a wonderful time celebrating their love of books and reading!

Additionally, the grade 5/6’s have also been working on writing and publishing stories this term. 3/4P and FnV, went to the BER building to have a read and look through some of the children’s books. They took turns reading, enjoyed the pictures and a chance to meet and get to know some 3/4 students!
